Currencies in Pit Sandbox are the resources you earn and spend as you progress. Gold and XP drive the early game; later systems add their own currencies.

Gold (Coins)[edit]

Gold, shown in game as Coins with a $ sign, is the main currency. You earn it from kills on bots and players, from claiming bounties, from events and from many other rewards. Each kill pays a base amount that is raised by your multipliers, up to a per-kill coin cap.

Gold is spent on almost everything: upgrades, killstreaks, megastreaks, enchanting, armor and items. Your gold is kept when you prestige.

XP[edit]

XP fills your level bar. You earn it from kills, with a bonus that grows with your streak, up to a per-kill XP cap. Reaching level 120 lets you prestige, and every prestige raises the XP needed per level. See Levels for the XP needed per level.

Megacoins[edit]

Megacoins are an alternate currency, mainly earned from Reward Chests (from Prestige 12). Other sources include Tryhard Bots, Loot Bags from the Event Shop, and Renown Absorption.

They are spent at Cookie's Megacoin Emporium (unlocked at Prestige 12) and on Yummy Biscuits.

You can hold at most 20,000 Megacoins. The Megacoin Investor Renown upgrade raises the cap by 2,000 per tier, up to 50,000 at tier XV.

Renown[edit]

Renown is earned by prestiging: the amount grows with your prestige, from 10 per prestige early on to 500 at Prestige 85 (see Prestige rewards). From Prestige 1, Reward Chests can also contain Renown, and Renown also comes from the Battlepass, the Event Shop and the guild shop (see Earning Renown).

Renown is spent in the Renown Shop at the Archivist on permanent upgrades that are never lost, even when you prestige. See Renown for the full list.

Mastery Points[edit]

Mastery Points buy nodes in the Mastery Tree. Every 1,000 Mastery XP turns into 1 Mastery Point. Mastery XP comes mostly from killing bots; see Mastery Points for every source.

You also get Mastery Points directly:

You can hold at most 40 unspent Mastery Points. At the cap, Mastery XP that would become a new point is lost.

Soul Shards[edit]

Soul Shards are the currency of Xaroth, unlocked with the Bad Decisions Renown upgrade. They come from kills while The Pact is active, from bosses and from the Soulshredder megastreak. Some Xaroth cards add bonus shards, for example after completing a Night Quest.

Shards start unbanked. Any player who kills you while you carry unbanked shards loots them from you. To keep them, escape to spawn through an extraction point, which banks them. You can hold up to 2,500 banked Soul Shards.

Spend 200 shards to raise your Xaroth reputation by one level and choose one of two cards to unlock; extra copies of a card make it stronger. See Xaroth for the cards.

Night Shards[edit]

Night Shards are used to upgrade perks, and some items from the Miner also need them. Sources include:

  • Night Quests (from Prestige 7): 10 Night Shards for each completed quest.
  • The Nightmare megastreak: a 20% chance of 1 Night Shard when you die above 200 streak.
  • Uberdrops.
  • The Dark Merchant, who sells 1 Night Shard for 2 Moon Stones. He moves to a new spot each time day turns to night or night to day.

Hunting XP[edit]

Hunting XP comes from killing bosses and from some boss drops. It levels up your Hunting skill (your Hunter Level), up to level 100. Higher Hunter Levels unlock harder bosses, and every level gives a talent point for the Hunting Talent Tree.

Grinded Coins[edit]

Grinded Coins count every coin you have earned since your last prestige. They are tracked separately from your balance, so spending coins does not lower them. To prestige you need a set amount, from $1,000 at Prestige 0 to $450,000,000,000 at Prestige 84. They reset to 0 when you prestige. See Prestige requirements.

Gems[edit]

Gems are the premium currency, bought from the store. They are used for:

  • Skipping cooldowns and timers, such as contract and perk upgrade timers.
  • Opening your Reward Chest without the kill requirement (5 Gems).
  • Restoring a lost league winstreak.
  • Cosmetics and deals.
  • Gifting ranks to other players.

Other currencies[edit]

  • Event Tokens are earned from Events and spent at the Event Shop. They reset each month alongside the Battlepass; tokens left over at the reset are turned into $1,000 each.
